Frank

December 26, 2014

One of my favorite people to follow on Instagram is Australian model and blogger Natasha Oakley. Not only does she travel to the most exotic destinations but she also has a killer body. Her skin always looks perfectly tanned and smooth even after spending so much time in the sun. It was from Tash that I found out about Frank.

Frank is a coffee scrub that hydrates your skin and makes dryness, stretch marks, cellulite, eczema, and scarring disappear. I suffer from keratosis pilaris — a skin condition where these small red bumps appear on your skin and are difficult to treat. I also have a large scar on one of my legs which I am trying to lighten. I bought this scrub hoping it will help with my skin dilemmas.

The scrub is made of coffee grounds, almond oil, and orange essence. It smells very much like coffee so if the smell of coffee is not your favorite then I wouldn't recommend you to buy this. The package suggests to apply the scrub all over wet skin, massage problem areas in a circular motion, and to leave the scrub on from 5 to 10 minutes.

After one application my skin felt so soft. My arms were also smooth and bump-free. This works great! As for my scar I have to wait a little longer to see results. In order to see results on your skin's appearance you must use the scrub 2 to 4 times a week. But if you're looking for instant moisture then you'll definitely get it after just one use.

Take a look at some before and after photos of people who have seen results by using Frank. Will you try Frank?

Lisa Kudrow's Dos and Don'ts

November 30, 2014

While reading my December issue of Glamour I was so excited to see Lisa Kudrow reveal her Dos and Don'ts. My love for Lisa began while watching Friends — my favorite TV show. I love Phoebe's quirkiness and how she never takes herself too seriously. (Cue the episode when she jogs with Rachel). I think there is a little bit of a Phoebe in all of us. I love what she says about not trying Botox and her friendship with Courtney Cox and Jennifer Aniston.

I am also loving Lisa in HBO's The Comeback. I remember when this show premiered ten years ago and thinking that a show like this had never been done before. But now the show is back and Valerie Cherish is causing mayhem in Hollywood. Can't wait to see what kind of situations she gets herself into in this season. Take a look at Lisa in Glamour above.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm

November 19, 2014

After leaving my internship for the day I decided to stop by my nearest Duane Reade to purchase some things that I needed. Suddenly something caught my eye — a small table filled with Nuxe products. I've heard great things about this brand. It's French and I am obsessed with French beauty products. One product in particular that seems to be a cult favorite among women is Nuxe's Reve de Miel Lip Balm.

I wanted to try this lip balm so bad but the $19 price tag didn't sound so inviting. Either way I gave in and bought it. I left the drugstore feeling regret for spending the money but excited to open it and try it on. One of the main things that I've read in online reviews about this lip balm is how thick it really is. They're not lying. The texture is thick and creamy but can easily be applied to the lips. I actually like that it is thick because it feels very moisturizing.

This stuff also smells amazing. It smells just like lemon! The dark yellow color may seem a little off-putting but it does get the job done. The package even indicates that it's been tested for effectiveness in Canada's extreme cold. Made with honey, plant oils, and shea butter, this balm is a no-brainer. It also doesn't hurt to know that one of these bad boys is sold every 28 seconds throughout the world. Nuts!

This is my first Nuxe product and I'm already eager to try some of their other stuff. The salesperson in Duane Reade kindly offered me a sample of Nuxe's signature fragrance, Prodigieux. It smells beautiful! And now I'll be adding that to my beauty wishlist.

Have you tried any products by Nuxe?

Now Playing: Leighton Meester's Heartstrings

November 1, 2014

As a huge Gossip Girl and Blair Waldorf fan it seemed about right to check out Leighton Meester's debut album, Heartstrings. And what a wonderful surprise it is. Her nine track album is a great departure from her "Somebody to Love" and "Good Girls Go Bad" days. Don't get me wrong pop suits her well but this...this is so much better! Filled with smooth hooks, soft melodies, and Meester's delicate but good-sounding voice, Heartstrings is a winner.

The first single coyly named after the album is powerfully written. "Had to save my own self from all of your evil games and now it ain't the same." Is it too soon to say the song does indeed tug at my heartstrings? Something about this song and the rest of the album really relaxes me and makes me feel cozy. To me it sounds folky, acoustic, and like an instant classic. I applaud Leighton for releasing such a great quality album in the days where booties and "I've been drinking" is all people are listening to. What a breath of fresh air! Take a look at Leighton's video for Heartstrings below:

Glossier.

October 13, 2014

Beauty site Into The Gloss is one of my favorite blogs to visit. There's something special about sharing the different products that make you feel pretty and confident. Celebs, designers, and writers share with Into The Gloss their skincare routines and favorite makeup products. One of their best interviews is with actress Debi Mazar. What a fireball!

It is only right that a beauty site such as this should branch out and do something that's never been done before. Enter Emily Weiss, founder of Into The Gloss and who just started skincare brand, Glossier. Glossier is a "modern beauty brand inspired by real life." I love that! Glossier will be releasing several products in different phases. Phase 1 consists of a face mist, priming moisturizer, a perfecting skin tint, and a skin salve which I happily already own.

I have a mild obsession with all-purpose creams, ointments, or lotions. This balm dotcom universal skin salve is just that. The waxy thick texture can be used on your lips, dry areas like elbows, on scratches, and under your eyes for instant and lasting moisture. I even tried it on small rash I had on my forearm (cold weather problems) and was satisfied to see that it helped minimize the itching and redness. I like the dewyness of this balm and they are not lying when they say it is long-lasting. However, I do wish the tube was bigger.

Glossier's motto is "Skincare first. Makeup second. Smile Always." What's something that makes me smile? Their packaging. All of their products are super girly in light pink but also super minimal — perfect so you can decorate the bottles with stickers which conveniently come with your package. FYI I added a rainbow sticker on my tube.

I'm looking forward to seeing the next phases of Glossier. Until then I will contemplate whether I should buy their priming moisturizer. I think I will.

Will you check out Glossier? Any Into The Gloss fans?

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Smooth and Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré

October 4, 2014

Ricky's NYC is this amazing beauty store that has everything beauty related at your fingertips. From hair care, skincare, makeup, and accessories this place has it all. For anyone who is a beauty junkie this store is like Disneyland! You can spend so much time browsing through products. They carry many drugstore brands and even higher-end brands like French brand Embryolisse. I definitely recommend going to this store if you're in New York.

I've been wanting to buy Embryolisse's Lait-Crème Concentré for a while now — since August to be exact. After not being able to find the smaller version I was finally able to find it at Ricky's. This Embryolisse cream is multipurpose. It can be used as a makeup primer, a makeup remover, or as a moisturizer. Since the weather is getting colder I've been using this product as a nighttime moisturizer. After I cleanse my skin and remove all of my makeup I apply this cream all over my face. It leaves my skin soft, hydrated, and the smell is so delicate and lovely. Using this really does make me feel French!

I'm also always on the lookout for any frizz-fighting conditioners therefore Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle Smooth conditioner was something that I definitely needed to buy. Overall, Aussie products are great and I've used their original 3 minute conditioner which gave me awesome results. This newer version though helps fight frizz for 24 hours! After washing my curly hair I applied this conditioner and I did not rinse it off. I left it on and then styled my hair as usual. My hair felt soft and my curls were more defined.

I'm already making a list of other products that I want to buy for the next time I stop by Ricky's. Have any of you been to a Ricky's? Have you tried any of these products? Follow me on Bloglovin!

Zara Mid Rise Skinny Jeans

September 26, 2014

A couple of weeks ago I stopped by Zara to do a little shopping. After trying some tops, the only thing that I completely fell in love with were these jeans. So pretty! I've been wanting a pair of Zara jeans for a while. I kept hearing good things about them especially on how great they fit. Plus, bloggers are always raving about their jeans too. I tried them on and they really do fit great!

These jeans are mid rise skinny in a medium wash. This pair and other pairs that Zara sells remind me of Rag and Bone jeans. I think they have a similar aesthetic but Zara is obviously much lower in price. Win! I can't wait to wear these jeans. I'll definitely wear them with my favorite go-to outfit — a tee, a blazer, and a pair of flats. Maybe I'll add a hat to the mix too. These jeans will be perfect for fall and I know I'll definitely be wearing them all season long.

Where do you buy your favorite jeans?

Olay Fresh Effects: Dew Over Hydrating Gel Moisturizer

September 22, 2014

As someone whose skin is always changing it is hard to find a good moisturizer. In the summer my skin can be oily but in the winter it can get dry. I read on Teen Vogue that gel moisturizers can be great for oily skin and they recommended Olay Fresh Effects Dew Over Hydrating Gel Moisturizer.

This gel moisturizer comes in a super handy jar but surprisingly the gel doesn't feel like gel, but instead a very soft lotion. After cleansing I applied this all over my face and neck. The gel dries quickly therefore letting you apply makeup right after. My skin felt smooth and hydrated afterwards.

I do suggest applying a small amount. The first time I applied it to my face I added too much and my skin felt greasy, so a little goes a long way with this product. However, after learning to apply the perfect amount, my skin did feel less oily and even brighter. This is great for dull skin that needs a little pick me up. With its subtle honeysuckle and white tea scent, it will give you a cooling sensation that instantly wakes you up and makes you feel refreshed.

London Photo Diary

September 16, 2014
Blazer: H&M | Top: Sincerely Jules | Jeans: Abercrombie & Fitch | Shoes: Steve Madden | Bag: H&M

As promised, in this post I will share more of my European trip. This time it is all about London. Where should I begin? When we left New York for London we barely experienced anything that day because we had to quickly catch the Eurostar to Paris. But after our time in Paris was over we went right back to London for the rest of our trip.

London was great! Such a cool place that reminded me a little of New York City. I was so excited to see the double-decker buses, ride the tube, see Big Ben, take a trip on the London Eye and eat real fish and chips.

We stayed at a hotel that was very close to Heathrow Airport so we had to ride the tube towards the inner city for the fun sightseeing stuff. Every time we wanted to go shopping or eat we would take the tube to Piccadilly Circus, which if you are from New York it is similar to Times Square. Piccadilly was filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and shopping stores.

We ate at a Pizza Hut which in the UK is an actual sit and eat restaurant. Also at Piccadilly we had a real English breakfast (beans, eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, and toast) at a nearby diner and more amazing food at Garfunkel's. We also visited Cool Britannia which is this awesome souvenir store. They literally have everything London or UK related to take back home to friends and family.

We visited Buckingham Palace which was filled with so many people taking pictures. It was so interesting to see the Queen's guards standing outside of the palace in their red uniform and big furry hats. But unfortunately the public can only see so much of the Palace.

The London Eye was perfect for a good view of London. The slow moving "eye" takes you to a great altitude which lets you see Big Ben and other great London sights. We also visited the "shops," an area where all they have is shopping stores. It looked and felt very much like Fifth Avenue.

On our last night we had dinner at our hotel. We had fish and chips which was so yummy. We were worried we were going to leave London without having real fish and chips. After being busy sightseeing we completely forgot about finding a fish and chips restaurant. But luckily our hotel had this on their menu! London was fun but next time I will make sure to stay longer.

"This is a Piccadilly Line service to Cockfosters."

DIY Hair Mask

September 6, 2014

Now that the summer is winding down it is the perfect time to take care of your hair after beach-bumming these past few months. Hot temps and hot tools can make your hair dry, unruly, and just plain frizzy. Get your hair in tip-top shape with this super easy hair mask. The best part? The two ingredients might already be in your kitchen.

What You'll Need

Small bowl
1 tablespoon of olive oil
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
Hair clip

Olive Oil: Its antioxidant and vitamins A and E benefits will hydrate the driest hair.

Coconut Oil: Its rich fatty-acids will help moisturize hair and scalp.

Like any hair mask this works best when your hair is tangle-free so that it is easy to run your fingers through. This is definitely important if your hair is super curly and thick like mine. Applying the mask on wet hair also works best.

Mix one tablespoon of both olive oil and coconut oil. Section your hair into four parts and gently scoop some of the mixture onto your hands. Rubbing the oils on your hands apply it to each section scooping up more when needed. Focus application on the ends of your hair working your way up to your roots.

After you're done, gather your hair into a high bun and leave the mask on for 45 minutes. If you want serious moisture you can also leave it on overnight  — just make sure to protect your pillows with a towel. After time is up, shampoo, condition, and style your hair like you normally would. That's it! See, so easy! Now say hello to frizz-free hair.

What's your favorite DIY hair mask?

Paris Photo Diary

September 2, 2014

If you follow me on Instagram then you already know that I went on a very exciting trip to Paris and London. We were overseas for one week and loved every minute of it. Paris is such a beautiful and sophisticated city. There were so many exciting sights to see and to take photos of. We arrived to Paris in the late afternoon and couldn't wait to explore the city.

After a small nap (we were exhausted) we headed out into the night to see what Paris had to offer. We checked out a restaurant called Hippopotamus and I had the best burger ever! Later we walked through the deserted streets. Around midnight you see very few people outside unlike New York City.

We walked through those famous bridges with the locks, took some pictures of Notre Dame (which looks more beautiful at night), and we got a glimpse of a lit up Eiffel Tower. The highlight of the trip was going to the top of the Eiffel Tower. The view is simply breathtaking! Seeing all of Paris from that altitude was amazing. I definitely recommend going to the top to anyone who is visiting.

Another great moment was seeing the Arc de Triomphe. Getting there was great since we passed by so many shopping stores including Abercrombie and Fitch Paris. Before you enter the store you walk through this very pretty garden. It was lovely! But seeing the Arc was fantastic. You could see everyone trying to get their best shot of it. We also visited the Musee du Louvre where Da Vinci's Mona Lisa is located. There were so many people surrounding the painting. It was crazy! I'm not a big fan of museums but I'm glad I got the chance to check it out. When in Paris...

Everyone in Paris was very nice. We were constantly being greeted in the hotels and restaurants we visited. I thought it was going to be difficult communicating because of the language barrier but surprisingly most people spoke some English and even Spanish too. Phew! I like to think I picked up some French during my short stay. Check out my Paris photo diary below and stay tuned for my London photos soon. Au revoir!
